Mpg
Hi, when I first bought my 2000SS in December 2001, I was averaging 240-260 a full tank. That's an average of 14.28-15.47 around town. With all of the mods, I'll average 160 full tank which is 9.52 mpg. For our cars to average 20-25 on highway, a full tank would give you 420miles total. The manufactors estimate of total mpg is 374. Somehow, these numbers don't match. The best I got from when my car was fully stock was 320-340 total on driving to California from Las Vegas at around 75-85mph. That's 20.23mpg@16.8, which is our tank size. When I had my 1980 Honda Accord Hatchback, I would get 300 on a full tank@27.77mpg. If you do the numbers, my tank size was 10.8 gallons. Later

Driving habit and tuning does help but also the tranny. My Formula bone stock actually got me 30mpg on a trip from Lafayette, LA to Indy, but I was only going as high as 65mph. City was about 20-22. I haven't recorded the gas mileage on the H/C combo, but I know it got worse. With the 402/F1-R, I will be happy to hit double digits. This TA I just bought with an auto only got me a best of 24-25 on the German highway.
But here is the thing most guys asking these questions are missing. You don't buy a V8 car to get gas mileage in the 30s and if you are modifying you car for more power you are not really worried about gas mileage. I saw a 2mpg drop just changing the gears from 3.42 to 3.73. If you want to play, you got to pay....the oil man.

26-27mph...hwy if I do about 72mph the whole way, and in the city I get about 240-250 miles on the odometer before I have to pull in and fill it back up, so city is about 16mpg. IF I don't play alot. If I play its literally like a windshield wiper blade on the gas gauge. Or if I do like 80mph+ on the hwy it also goes very fast.
