that looks bad but if the valves are not bent i don't see why he can't just put some good p-rods in.how long did he run it like that ? i would definitely change the oil also.

It should be okay. As long as it didnt collapse a lifter or hurt the rocker or valve you be in the clear. That part of the head really isnt surrounded by anything important, and underneath is just a big void for the lifters. Good engineering, but its a bitch to change lifters. Get HARDENED pushrods and it wont happen again as long as you dont over rev. Make sure you get the right length.

Same thing happened in my buddy's car. We just swapped out the stock pushrods with some from comp cams and changed the oil. After that she ran great.

You could fit 1 1/2 pushrods in that one hole....Geez. Looks like some valve train geometry was a hair off somewhere.

Looks like one of my pushrod holes after I missed 3rd. As others already said, it should be fine as long as none of the valves are bent. Have your cousin do a compression test and if all the cylinders check out, drop in the new pushrods.

Unless you've got a crazy cam in there, I'd just put stock PRs back in. They are much easier to change (cost and time) than valves.

I agree.

I've seen this problem posted before. Do some searches. Valve train geometry is the first place to look. You need to identify the problem before installing any new parts. My ls1 has push rod guides does yours?

Over revving was not mentioned by the original poster.
