Time to clean this forum up!
Ok, it's been a very good first afternoon.
But, it's time to set this forum on course and start talking about engines.
So, I'm going to move all off topic threads to the lounge. Ya'll feel free to post in them there.

Re: Time to clean this forum up!
Ok guess I will have the first engine related post. Has anyone done an air pump yet? The old timers say they are worth 17 - 20 hp. We have a Moroso 3 vane belt driven pump being installed now. It will pull about 10" from 1 valve cover with a adj. pop off valve on the other valve cover using #12 line. We have welded a baffle inside the valve cover it pulls from so as not to take oil from the valvetrain. We will start at 10" although I am told it can pull up to 15" but you do not want to starve the oil pump. We will also run 7 quarts of oil. I will have some pics up in a few days. Any thoughts?

At a minimum the pump will help big time with oil control when driving around on the street. I have an electric one. JMX installed the same type on his LS1 and his oil consumption dropped to ~0.
On the other hand his apparently wasn't able to keep up with the blowby at WOT. On my LT1 it was and I saw a ~4hp gain (scaled with RPM).
Your belt driven pump should definitely be able to keep up - make sure you route your exhaust into a catch can if you want to keep it legal, and make sure your valve covers seal well, and you have some kind of filter(s) between the cover and the pump (I just use a mopar metal mesh type). The key to pulling vacuume isn't really the pump but sealing. If you can pull off a good seal then even a tiny pump can pull a vacuume. You really just need to be able to overcome your max blowby and you will be golden - the rest will depend on how well you can seal (again, mainly in the valve-covers.

Good idea. A very good subject that deserves it's own thread.

Re: Time to clean this forum up!
Welcome everyone! Hopefully this will be a very few and far between non-tech post from me. I'm looking forward to what this site offers and hope it does well. Also, and seriously, what can I do to help support this site financially??
