LS1 Engine Mechanical Specifications?
I have access to allot of GM technical manuals, training and whatnot...but what I need I can't find or is not published in the stuff I have looked at. If anyone needs anything other than what I need I can look it up for them if I can find it, we can use this thread for it.
What I'm looking for is a few basic stock LS1 engine internal measurements:
Deck Height (centerline of crankshaft to top of block at cylinder head sealing surface)
Connecting Rod Length (centerline to centerline --- have this somewhere, just want to verify again)
Compression Height (centerline of piston pin to top of piston)

Re: LS1 Engine Mechanical Specifications?
Great! , with those specs the piston is .006" (deck height minus stroke/2+connecting rod length+compression height) out of the top of the cylinders. Thats exactly what I was thinking I had read somewhere.
Since I posted this I came up with a few more specs that may be of some use to everyone. Basic stuff like bore and stroke don't need to be given unless someone else is needing them. I'll keep a list of the hard to find measurements that I come across.
Stock LS1, LS6 head gasket compressed thickness: .055" is what I came up with on a crate LS6 teardown (think thats what I measured on a truck LS1 derived engine also). Can anyone verify if that is right?
It would also be interesting to see all of the LS1, LS6, truck cylinder head specifications all next to each other, combustion chamber CC's would be the most important to me. I've seen them scattered about in other posts, never seen a post comparing each of them though

You mean like flow #s? That would be nice to know. I have the LS1 #s, and maybe the LS6 somewhere, but only on the intake side of the LS6.

Hmm, I have the LS1 gasket thickness at 1.33 mm, which is .05" Now I have a specific one

Re: LS1 Engine Mechanical Specifications?
I was kinda interested in knowing all the Combustion chamber sizes along with the flow numbers if their available.
I have the stock LS1 head flow numbers only:
[quote]
Intake Port Displacement: 204cc
Combustion Chamber Size: 65cc
Valve Sizes: 2.00"/1.55"
Valve lift Intake Port Exhaust Port
-------------------------------------------
.050" 46 31
.100" 83 62
.200" 134 104
.300" 189 136
.400" 222 165
.500" 240 179
.600" 252 185

This may be helpful also.
http://www.c5-corvette.com/LS1_Technical.htm
and I thought the rod length on the LS1 was 6.125"

Thanks for the link That appears to be the same exact information I got from the GM service manual also. Did I mention I have access to the online version of GM's sevice manuals?

That's because the 6.125 rods are cheap, readily
available, forged small block Chevy rods

You be right. 6.1 (6.098) rod length
I thought I heard 6.125 somewherz....

Re: LS1 Engine Mechanical Specifications?
6.098 sounds right I'm sure someone can check.
Stock pistons are .006 out of the hole.
I had a set of 6.125 rods in my 1st motor.
I now have 6.200 rods in the 418ci ARE setup.

Re: LS1 Engine Mechanical Specifications?
Thanks everyone, I got what I needed at first. I will start a new thread when I get more interested in flow numbers of all the stock GEN III cylinder heads. I was really interested in the combustion chamber CC sizes mostly.

Thanks! I went through a few piston books today and all them also said 6.098" for stock LS1's. I dunno why all my GM specs don't show the measurements that I need.
