6.0 Liter Iron Block/6.0 Liter Aluminum Heads Question
First off,I am going to copy this post in the FI Forum also. Would I have any issues with heads lifting off of block under boost conditions (5 psi and less?) I heard that LS6 Valves are the same size as the 6.0 Liter Valves, can anyone verify this? Does anyone have flow numbers comparing LS1,LS6,5.3,and 6.0 heads? I am building a motor for my Incon TT Kit. Thanks in advance.

Check into what the real bottom line is.
Just a heads up, these things ALWAYS cost more than you expect. Unless your building the motor yourself, I'd place good money on being beyond the cost unless your skipping head work.
Watch out for all those hidden costs.

That's it exactly....I plan on not doing any head work for the time being. That's why I wanted to compare STOCK HEAD (LS1, LS6, 5.3, and 6.0) flow numbers.

2001 and later aluminum 6 liter truck heads have the same valve sizes and flow rates as the LS6 heads. The only difference is that the combustion chamber in the 6.0 liter head is about 4 cc larger. This would be very good for you in your FI application. It will help lower your static CR a half point or so and help keep you out of detonation with your turbo. In fact, you could run a little extra boost because of the lower compression.

Mir,
if you went with the 6.0 heads, and a low compression piston, do some figuring out, and come up with 9.0, or 9.5 CR, along with ARP head bolts/or studs, a good o-ringed HG, and then cram a lot of boost in it. you will have NO problem of head lifting @ 5#s of boost. here, low CR+more boost = more HP than Higher CR and lower boost. keep that in mind, and youll have a great motor!
BTW, when Cendres did the heads+cam setup on his car way back when in GMHTP, there were the flow numbers that you were asking for. i have it at the shop, but not here at home. tia

Why build when you can buy <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">
14lbs of boost, aluminum head, iron block, ARE head bolts w/ good gaskets no problems at all.
Motor for sale, 8.75:1, all ready to go.

I would love to buy your motor, but I don't have that kind of money. <img src="images/icons/frown.gif" border="0"> I can build it locally for 1/2 the price. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Re: 6.0 Liter Iron Block/6.0 Liter Aluminum Heads Question
Are the valve sizes 2.0" in and 1.55" ex. on the 6.0L truck heads?
Were there any made before 2001?
What is the casting number on them?

Speed Demon,
What you are looking for is 2001 and later LQ9 6 liter truck heads. They have the same valve sizes as LS1 and LS6 heads. 'Valvegod' can give you the casting number as well as sell you a set.
