Default Does anyone know what kind of cars and trucks....

Hello everyone!!!!! This is my first post on here and was hoping you can help me out. I am rebuilding a 1970 Chevy C10 truck that i am wanting to put a LS1 or LS2 motor into it. I was told that i want to stay with an aluminium block LS# motor. What kind of cars or trucks have the aluminium motors? I know the corvette probably does but i also was told that some trucks came with the same motor. Is that true? I have a friend that has an auction licensce to buy salvaged cars and trucks. I was hoping to find a motor that way besides on ebay. Any comments about certain motors i should stay away from or ones that i should get would also be very appreciated. Thanks alot for your time.

Josh

Well the obvious f bodys, and vette, 04 GTO, and for the ls2 the 05+ GTO and vette
that'll give you a start, I'm sure others will chime in with vehicles that have the aluminum lsx

You might want to check in the "Conversions & Hybrids" forum on this site. That is where everybody talks about doing LS1 swaps in older vehicles.. I am sure that someone there has done this swap before and could help you out or point you in the direction of research.

Or maybe you could get a mod to move this over there??

I know you are looking for an LS motor but if you are interested I have a 500 horse 355 all forged roller valvetrain motor I need to sell. Its got everything but a distributor and its only been run on a dyno. PM me if you want more details, if not sorry to disrupt the conversation.

I thought 4.8's were all iron, and only select 5.3's were aluminium (front drive passenger cars, Ranier and any other Envoy/Trailblazer derivative, '04 SSR).

I'd look for an LS2 first, but keep an eye open for an LQ4 or LQ9 iron block 6.0L from Escalades, Yukon Denali's or 1500HD & 2500 trucks.

Thanks everyone! I wasn't aware that these motors were in so many of these cars. I took down a list and hopefully i can find one at a great price!

GRL0212- Thanks but i want a new gen motor that is really reliable.
