Angry double roller timing chain/oil pump won't clear the timing cover

I bought an aussie double roller timing chain. It came with shims to mount the oil pump out about an 1/8 of an inch out further. This was all good until I went to put the tming chain cover on, it hangs out about 1/8th of an inch.
I called SLP and they said there pump will fit without the shimes or is the answer or is there a supplier who has a machined timing cover that will correct this?

Did you put the timing chain cover gasket on too?

I did not try that. Off hand it looks like it needs a little bit more, but I will try tonight, I will let you know.
Thanx

Agreed, lose the double roller and save yourself a bunch of trouble.

Yeah, I havent either. I had the same issue when I was test fitting the cover. THought about going with button head (rounded) cap screws instead of the hex heads supplied with the double roller. I think the problem will go away once the gasket is in place. at least I hope so. I dont have my stock crank gear or cam gear any more, so if I decided to go the LS2 timing chain route, I'd also have to buy the other stuff.

okay, I did put the cover on with the gasket. It went on and I am able to tighten it up but the oil pump is definetly touching the timing cover. My next question is will this creat noise and or funky harmonics. It may be time to abort this quest for dependability and go back to a good single roller.
