Default CA + Lopey Idle + smog = possible?

This is my concern... I will be purchasing a cam shortly and have to stay mild to pass smog in CA. SINCE I can't go big I would rather just have a cam that has a nice lope to it so I can just appreciate the sound since I can't really appreciate the performance as I would like. Would the TR224 on a 112 or 110 get me that, or do I need to look elswhere? I hate california.

Doing more research I found that the 114 lsa is my best bet I just don't want a stock idle. I think I need a good tuner!

I have lope with a 115. it is possible. The TR224 would give you some lope as well as performance.

The TR 224 114 isn't hard to tune to pass. Dial in a 750 rpm idle and you'll have some lope. Raise it to 900 rpm for the emissions test.

You'll need some cats to pass the smog test.

The plan is to get the cam installed, then just put on a legal exhaust with my AIR/EGR back in. After that, get it tuned, and pass that damn test. I still have a over a year to all of this so time is not an issue. I was thinking Force Fed Performance could do the tuning for me, get rid of my check engine light, etc. I just hope I get some lope out of all this hard work up ahead... And I hope I can beat my bolt-on only trap speed which I think is pretty decent for a 98.

ya i just have to find someone that will do that, I don't want to just go to a random smog shop and ask if they'll pass me if i show em a couple extra 20's.... I guess I'll ask around and see if I can find any hookups. I do love my race style LTs, I would hate to have to ditch 'em.
