Default quick cam swap question

Do you REALLY need to upgrade the oil pump and timing chain when doing a cam swap? Is it mandatory?

I have a bolt on 2000 T/A M6 with 5x,000 and no issues.

I will be adding a TSP 228r with 918's, Ti retainers and 7.425 pushrods.

Thanks for the help.

due to the fact that they are longer will quiet the drivetrain down by eliminating slack. That is probably his reasoning.

I own a 2000 WS6 M6 and just yesterday finished installing my MS3 and the car has about 59K miles almost 60K. I see it as your already in the 50K mile range and your taking the whole front of the motor apart anyways. Yeah it will take alittle longer to change the pump, but you might as well. Last thing you need is to install the cam, and alittle while down the rode your oil pump give out or chain break. but its all up to you whether you got the time, or if you want to do it.

Nah, you will be fine. If you were going to be throwing down into the 7k range then I would look into it, but looks nails to me the way it is. 98 motor....then yes.

I don't know if I would use the 7.425 pushrods. I just broke most all my 918 springs and we aren't sure if it was just a bad batch of springs or what. I got some new ones and so far they are fine. I was using the 7.425 pushrods but when i installed the second set of springs I went back to stock on the pushrods. Honestly it doesn't sound any louder with the stock pushrods. I wouldn't use the longer ones

Depends on the cam lobes.
