Default Which different shortblocks fit a 2000?

Thinking of buying a 2000 TA that needs a new engine. Which is the best way of doing this. Just buy a complete used one for 2-2.5K or get an aftermarket shortblock? And if that is the best option what will fit and bolt up? LS1, LS2 or will the 6.0 blocks from the trucks fit? If I did the used block I could also do a cam swap as well. Trying to learn some more about these cars. I am trying to keep the number to less then 3K.

Thanks for any help,
Chris

Less than 3K will not get you a rebuilt longblock, but will get you a nice rebuilt stock cubes shortblock. Of course you would have to do all the work yourself.
All the motors you mentionned will fit.
LPE (Lingenfelter) has 346 shorblocks for $2095 + exchange

IMO unless you are getting a killer deal on that 2000, you better put the 3k on top and get another one that allready works fine.

The car is a 2000 for 3.5K and a Firehawk. Is that a good deal?
