Default is it possible to have too big valves

i want to know if its possible to put valves that are too big. Im looking at the 2.08 and 1.60 like on the stage 3. local mechanic said they were to big for what i plan. going to be running stock cube, cam in sig, with 150 to 175 shot with all boltons. would stage 3 heads be good or should i go with 5.3 heads and get 2.02 and 1.57

Yes, you can over valve an engine. Vote for 2.02 and 1.57.

What about ported LS6's or 241's? I think that would be your best bet.

Yes, there is a such thing as to big. The bigger valve along with a small bore shrouds the valve and dosen't allow it to dispurse air effectivly. You can run some larger valves if they have the correct valve job, but I would max out at 2.05 on a stock bore.

what would be better 2.05 valve on the ls6 head or on the 5.3 head, i like the idea of higher compression but afraid the valve might hit the piston

We would suggest a 2.02"/1.57" or a 2.05" at the max. We do not suggest a 2.08" on a stock bore.

The LS6 head will be the better head, however the 5.3 head will give you more compression without milling.

The LS6 head will flow more, but as Beast said, a 5.3 head will give you more compression without milling.

Now you have to figure out which is worth more to you, higher compression and less flow or higher flow and less compression.
