Default missing and surging

whats up guys. on my 98 z , it has started missing like the plugs are bad but i took it to my mechanic and he told me that the plugs were fine and the thing is that while it misses if i hit gas it goes away but then it starts surging like it just jumps forward . my mechanic also told me that it threw a code for the crankshaft sensor so he changed the sensor and still the same problem . anyone have any ideas ? thanks in advance

I think you will have to run a crank relearn. EFILive scanner has one.
Someone should know about this. I have never had to do one but did read a little about long time ago.

We pulled the crank position sensor off a guys 1500 V6 as a joke. It wouldnt crank. We plugged it back in, cranked and ran fine, just had an SES for a while. I dunno what to tell you man, try the IAC. Mine just acted up, rpms floated to 2500 when in N and off gas and when I fist started it it would FLY up to 2K rpm. I removed it and sprayed the **** out of it with carb cleaner and now she runs like new (or what I imagine a new LS1 runs like ) I am not saying this is the issue, just another "option"

P0300 is a missfire code not a code for crank or cam.
Use a scan tool with datastream to determine whats wrong.

just got back from work and i noticed that in the early morning when there is no traffic it starts doing the missing then it changes gears on the tranny and surges a couple of times then it rides smooth the rest of the way to work. then in the afternoon when there is traffic since i am mostly in stop and go traffic it keeps doing it until i am able to ride the missing till it changes gears .

I would take it to a reputable shop that specializes in ls1's.Im not saying your mech isnt good, but guys that work on these cars 24/7 can diagnose prob quicker and cheaper.
