a lid is cheap for money to power ratio. $100 new gets 10hp roughly

Headers will not hurt your motor. Your motor isn't approaching the "worn out" stage. It's just broken in. You should be able to do just about anything you want. Headers, intake, cam, heads, UD pulley, etc.

A4 or M6? What do you plan on doing with the car? DD, drag racing, auto X? What are your goals?

If it is a A4 I would go with a Lid- TC - Cam- Heads.

lid, LS6 intake, headers, then stall, then go back and do a cam and later a stall.

easiest way is to save up, pull the motor/trans out and do it all at once yourself
