Default tsp oil pump vs tr oil pump

I searched but could not find the info i wanted. What are the advantages or disadvantages of each? What im trying to say is the tsp one is ported and shimmed for increased pressure but the tr one is not shimmed. I just finished the cam and head install and did not upgrade my timing chain or pump and i think im going to do that over christmas break. Which one would be a better buy for my application. Thanks guys

Personally, I feel it doesn't matter which one. As long as you replace your existing pump, you're good to go.

For a heads cam car would it be worth it to buy the pump that is shimmed or not?

Has anyone tried the new GMPP pump? part number 17801830. It says its a high volume oil pump. It is also relatively in expensive compared to the other aftermarket pumps. They retail for $90 but I have found them as cheap as $62. Just curious.
