Lots of variables here. Will it be daily driven? What will the motor be in(car, truck, etc)? What tranny? If auto, what size stall are you willing to run? Will you install headers and other bolt ons? You can use any 5.7 cam, but the best choice for you is hard to narrow down w/o knowing the above info. Post up some specifics and I'll try to help.

The 5.3 liter is not as tolerant to a large cam due to the smaller displacement. A large cam will really rob bottom end and have poor idle/driveability. I would recommend something in a 220 duration w/ 112LSA, this would be a good blend of power and street manners. It will probably make about 335 RWHP give or take 10 hp. For a daily driver I definately would stay away from anything larger than 228 duration. A 224 will probably peak 10-15HP higher than a 220, but will suffer on the bottom end. A 216 will probably peak 10-15HP lower but will make better bottom end. Hope this helps.

The late model Z06 cam would be perfect.

Stock 5.3L something like - 191/190 .457/.466 114LSA

02+ LS6 - 204/218 .551/.547 117.5LSA

If you want a muscle car sound you will want to go w/ the 112 or tighter lobe seperation.

Check out www.ls1sounds.com for cam/exhaust clips.
