Default Which Block for road race car?

Hi,
My '02 LS1 engine is getting a tear down right now for grit in the oil., and other issues.

I use my car for road racing, track car only. The last dyno, it made 450 RWHP. I want to make this engine "race proof": able to tolerate high rev race conditions over an extended period of time (say 1 hr), with repeated mid to WOT during that time. After rebuild, I am envisioning to have an additional 25-50 rwhp with other additions. I don't want to have to tear it down again too soon.

My question: is the stock LS1 aluminum block up to the task of my intentions. Do I need to condsider a iron block- if so which one to use? Current truck L92 will work???

Thanks for the input.

there is no need for an aluminum block at that power level. just make sure everything is properly lubricated. i would definitely look into a dry-sump system.

How about a LS7 crate motor, it all ready comes with a dry sump!
