Default 243 Vs. 317 Heads

Which head would be better on a 423" LQ9? The 317's were stage 3 ported by ARE. The 243's are stock, but could be ported. Current cam is a Texas Giant, but could be and probably will be changed.

Depends on your setup. What CC pistons? How far do they pop out of the block? What compression are you looking for? Assuming you have the 243s ported, all will be equal except the combustion chamber size.

I believe they're flat top pistons with valve reliefs. Compression should be around 10.8-11.1 I think on the 317's.
