On a slightly different subject (slight thread hijack) does anyone know the firing order of the ford 5.0s in the fox bodies, because a lot of the LS1 rx7 guys are using ford 5.0 bbk Long tube headers with their LS1s cause they fit but I know the firing order has an impact on the shape of the collector so I am wondering if the 5.0 and the LS1 have the same firing order

Thanks

There aren't a bunch of conflicting numbers. The first one posted was SBC (miamifan is now sorry for that, lol!). The other numbers are all the same. It doesn't matter which number you start with.....the order is still the same.

The correct firing order for ALL LS1's is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. This firing order originated back in 1954 by Cadillac. During the 80's Detroit desiel went to this firing order for their V8's becuase they were have harmonic problem's and breaking crankshafts. Most of your Top Fuel dragster teams and Funny Car team's have went to this firing order as well due to power robbing harmonic's at higher rpm.

1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 is the gen I SBC.....

the LS1 has the 7-4 swap from the factory, so its order is:

1 8 7 3 6 5 4 2

the numbers are labled just like the SBC in that the front drivers side is 1. front passenger side is 2. second from front drivers side is 3.second from front passenger side is 4. ect....
