Default when rebuilding an engine with forged pistons...

is it ok to re-use the factory piston rings, or is it highly advised against?

just seeing how vital new pistons rings and the like are

thanks

correct me if i am wrong, but not replacing them is about as smart as using used oil on a new engine. I would replace them no matter the cost, i mean its alotta work , do it right the first time

Piston Rings, being a wear item, should definetely be replaced with a rebuild. If you re-use parts like that it would sort of defeat the purpose of a "rebuild" which is to install new parts.

Also, the stock rings, wouldnt fit most forged pistons as they are made to fit a 3.905 instead of the stock 3.898 bore.
