the GM hotcam kit really is a decent deal. cam and lifters, and thats all you need to replace, maybe do some hardend pushrods if you want
but you should put an LS2 timing chain on it and a TSP ported LS6 pump

i ran mine for a long time with just replacing the cam and springs. i added the hardened pushrods about a year later. i agree with CopCar that it would be a great time to upgrade your timing chain to an LS2, they're only $25-35.
