Default How many run stock timing chain with a cam?

The reason I ask is because when i done my cam install I didn't even think about changing the chain. My car has about 50k on it and I never it the rev limit. I had the tuner keep the limiter at stock.

Stock here and i daily drive. No problems yet but over the christmas break im going to put the tsp oil pump and ls2 chain in just to be safe. At the time of my heads/cam install i ran out of money for the pump and chain. If you have the 02 the pump should be good but how much slack was in you stock chain?

It didn't have that much slack. I have seen alot worse so I wasn't to concerned considering I'm not one to wind the hell out of an engine. I like to jump on it from time to time but I'm no racer

Me either so thats why i did not change them. But if im going to shell out $500 for a tune im going to just replace them just so i can sleep better at night. My chain has a little slack in it and probably should have been changed.

We will never put a Cam in a car if they use the stock LS1 chain.Have seen too many of them break, personally.
Atleast put in a newer model LS2 type of chain.

Stock chain with 45K miles. 15K of that with a cam and daily driven except for the last 6,000 miles. I asked about replacing my chain but the story then was if your engine has under 30K then the stock chain would be fine.

I am rolling 95k miles on the stock chain and just did my third cam swap 5k miles ago and added a set of heads. The chain was still fine. It really isn't that big of a problem like it used to be years ago. Next month I will be getting some new heads and cam and will be replacing lots of little stuff so I am going to do the chain as well. I have had this double-roller sitting in my garage for the past year and a half.

Stock 02 chain with 33K miles. Car has had a cam since 4K miles and H/C since 15K. Daily driver and over 40 track runs to 6500rpms. If i'm ever in the area again i'll throw in an LS2 chain for peace of mind.

1st time around i used my stock chain, no problem

This time around i dished out 30 bucks for an LS2

I think slack is normal, even my ls2 chain has some slack.

Stock chain here, 20,000 miles, 5,000 on a cam. I will probably upgrade the timing set and oil pump when I go with a more aggressive cam.

Stock chain here, launch the car off the limiter at the track. With that said when I put my TREX in I am going to swap an ls2 timing chain on.
