Default When should I change valvesprings?

Sounds like a stupid question....and I know the typical answer...but

I have had the same valvesprings since Nov. 2003 (comp 977 duals w/comp r lifters)

I only have like 5k miles on them though. Should I be worried at all?

I that it usually comes down to the amount of heat cycles they have gone through, but I did not know what would be the best in my situation.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

They are 3 years old and have 5k miles on them? I'd think about changing them because it looks like the car sit's for long periods of time. Letting the sit for months at a time wear out valvesprings faster than driving it every day.

I have 38,000 miles on a set of PRC duals (platinums) with a cam that has .600 lift..getting ready to change them..want to test them when they come off and see what numbers they produce..they have been in for a year and a half..

If it does sit for month's (winter storage) would it be a good idea to loosen up the rocker arms to tension off the springs?

That would be a big help!

I've been told by a tuner that a good rule of thumb is to change them every two years or 24,000 miles if you don't want to test them.

It doesn't sit for months at a time....but when I do drive it, it is not great distances. In between driving it I start it and run it to get some oil and heat in the motor. I gets run every 2-4 weeks.

I will be getting a tune soon, and they said that they will check for any float.
