Default want 40 ft lbs of torque...

t peak-is this a number that could be attained with a set of heads or would i need to rethink basiclly my entire set up? id really like to see 4xx/ 4xx on a dyno sheet just for my own personal enjoyment but im currently only making 360 rwtq

From what I have read, dyno sheets and personal exp, cam only cars, and this seems to be mainly with the LS1 cars dont put out much tq reletive to the hp. This is my best buds dyno sheet.

I see a set of heads often help the peak tq #'s

I went from 354rwhp/373rwtq with only bolt-ons through 3.42s, to 446rwhp/411rwtq with heads/cam through 4.10s. I still have the LS6 intake and my own ported TB.

add a civic motor to the setup you already have....should be good for 40lbs of torque

You need more compression and better airflow. After all the bolt-on mods, you need a killer set of heads (AFR, ET, TFS, PRC) with a small combustion chamber (59cc), tight quench (.030-.035"), and a cam that gives you high dynamic compression. This will get you more than 40 rwtq gain. My car is a perfect example. It only put out 325 lb ft of torque stock.

I second Patrick. 421/400 here with his cam and similar everything else except for the Fast 90 yet and no cutout on that pull. 340rwtq+ at 3000rpm

I've got a set of ported/milled 5.3 heads though (yeah, Patrick I just noticed they are 862 castings instead of 853...would make sense with the pushrod dilemma then)

Stopped tuning at 6400RPM for some reason. It'll be getting retuned after the ported Fast 90 to hopefully breathe a tad bit better up top, more comparable to Pat's setup.

well i dont think ill be able to attain all of that with my current cam w/o flycutting which id really rather not do. i thought of a set of prc 5.3's and a .040 cometic if it would clear my cam.

My cam is smaller than your V.2. You don't need a big cam to hit the big torque number. A smaller cam with more compression will typically make more torque than a bigger cam with less compression. I'm talking static and dynamic comrpession here.

ya i know what you are saying. i want to find a head to compliment my cam rather than swapping it out. i already didnt do enough research when i put this cam in now i need to try and make up for it with my head choice. im sure i could slap on a set of prc ls6's like everyone else and get 440-450 rwhp but i want some damn torque to go along with it. (that plus my boss just made 475/ 431 in his h/c 00' z28 and im going to miss whooping up on him)

Other than a high flowing cylinder heads with a smaller combustion chamber:
You could always just build a stroker, More cubes = More torque
or you can just spray it, or all three.

You're going to spend more time and money trying and pull the TQ number out with out swapping to a different cam. Starting with the heads and selecting the cam to go with them is the better way IMO. Think of it this way, if you pull your current cam and swap in another selling your current fr $200 you only lost $200 vs trying to find the right set of heads.

I'm not saying you won't need heads, but I bet if you bought even a stock set of LS6's (Patriot has them for $350 right now) did not mill them but ran a .040 gasket and swapped your cam you would be way ahead of the game.

Why do we consistently see these dips around 4,000~4,800 rpm? I just saw a dyno sheet from a H/C LS2 car that a local speed shop did with the same exact thing. I had it too on my dyno sheet:

Is it a timing issue? I'm leaning pretty heavily towards thinking it is...but, don't have a straight forward answer as of yet.

I'm going to say the dip it is more exhaust related. Take a look at the bellow dynos. This is from my 01 SS when I had it.

This shows difference between open exhaust and closed exhaust. You know that old wives tale "You'll loose TQ running open headers" BS. You'll notice there is no flattening out between 3600 and 4200.

Mods at this time were:
FTRA
Lid
Fliter
Ported TB
Maf ends
LS6 intake (stock)
TR236 cam
Stock 241 castings
Pace Setter headers
Custom y-pipe with dual electric cut outs right after the headers with 18" extensions as not to mess with the O2 sensors.

Now, here is a graph showing over lays with stock internals, Cam and Cam/100 shot. (You can ignore the N20 pull.) But all of these pulls show with the cut outs open.

Here is another to back my theorey. This is a buddies 02 SS. We did a heads cam swap and he did a very similar exhast system after the headers. He went with HVMC 1 7/8' QTP's but look what happens when you free the exhaust up with dual electric cut outs.

I will be proving it yet again once I get my truck running.
