Mine ticks at idle ever since the cam,RRs,springs, headers but once I hit the gas and get up to like 5mph the ticking goes away. I like the sound its nice and choppy.

must have a lot of valvetrain noise. when i had my old TR224 cam. it was loud as hell, ends up when i took it out to put in my new "mammoth" cam, the TR cam's lobes were all flaked off and just whacked....when i put in my new cam, i put a set of LS7 lifters in it and now my car makes absolutly NO noise at all, i can put my ear on my hood and i can't even hear one bit of tick or anything...i love it now!
not that the sewing machine sound bothered me, just let people know it was there if they didn't notice the uneven idle

I wouldnt call it crap but sounds...different. In that aspect Mustangs owns us. The 6.1 HEMI also sounds wicked. I only have a BB catback and it sounds deeper than the LS1.

this may be my old school way of thinking, but unless you have a solid (roller or flat tappet) cam, you shouldn't have any ticking noise. the noise comes from "lash" some where in the valve train. unless its from noisy injectors, i hear that noise in both my TPI and LT1. may the LSx's be different somehow?

I'd heard the complaint many times of the ticking and listened to several soundclips of cams where you could hear the ticking when they walked to the front of the car. When I picked mine up after the cam install that was the first thing I noticed was no ticking sound. Just a nice lope.
