Default Windage tray questions

Hey all,

I'm getting pretty far along in my engine rebuild and I have two questions for you, one stupid and one not so stupid...

The stupid question is this - Is the windage tray the piece that goes on the main studs or the piece that bolts into the oil pan? Whichever one it is, what is the other called?

Now for the not so stupid question... I got ARP main studs and I can't get the tray on them because several bolt holes on the tray are ovals. Do I need to drill these out or am I missing something?

TIA!

Correct the windage tray is the one that bolts to the main studs. If your using the ARP studs you'll have to drill 3 of them out to get it to fit. You'll also have to get new nuts for the studs..

The arp studs should have come with the nuts for the windage tray. And yea you'll need to drill those three out.

Thanks, guys. The studs did come with the nuts for the windage tray.

Is there a name for the piece that bolts to the oil pan?

I just call it the oil pan tray, there's probably a proper name for it though.
