Default Moroso Spiral Flow Muffler?

Does any body have any experience with these?
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?catcode=35001
I am looking to replace my Loud Mouth's resonator with a bullet style muffler to help quiet the drone. I ran across this on Jeg's and it looks interesting. It is only about $45, I'm sure it will fit, and they are claiming to flow better than glass pack style mufflers. Now I am having a hard time believing that it will flow better than a straight through pipe surrounded by packing, but what do I know? Am I missing something here? Also has anyone had any positive/negative experiences with any of the other (Borla XR1, Magnaflow, Dynomax) bullet style mufflers in place of the resonator? I love loud cars and the growl of the LM, but this drone is driving me nuts.

I don't know for sure but I'm doubting those flow claims. I know what you mean about that drone though.. ugh

I ran a pair of 3" Moroso spiral-flows on my car for awhile before I switched to the 1 chamber Flowmaster race mufflers. I couldn't really tell any HP difference in the two. They have a strange sound at idle/part throttle. At WOT they sound pretty good, though. I still like the Flowmasters I have right now over the Moroso's.

What I would like to know is how much it would recude the decibles inside the car. I want an ORP, but don't really want to replace my loudmouth with something else. An ORP + Loudmouth = hearing loss.

What do you mean by strange?
Do you think it would cut down on the 2k RPM resonation/drone, or do you think I would be better off with a traditional glass-packed design like Borla, Dynomax, etc.? I would consider a Flowmaster design but they don't make a bullet type that will fit.

Also does anyone know how good or bad a chambered type of muffler (like the ones on the GMMG) would flow compared to any of the others? If you look at this picture:

There are a bunch of little cup type of things along the wall. Does this flow well or just create a turbulence nightmare? The price on one of these is about $56 and it will also fit well.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I have a 3" dynomax race magnum on a loudmouth style (my dad runs an exhaust shop, so we just made it ourselves). I absolutely love the sound of it. I dont have headers or a ORP, but i do have a new y pipe. Its not very loud at idle or under 2k, but around 3k it starts to open up, and at wide open, it sounds unholy.

I have a Borla XR-1 on my twin turbo car. The turbos quiet the exhaust quite a bit (I ran it open turbo for a week or two).

The Borla XR-1 seems like it is a great piece and my car has no drone, althought that may be due to the turbos.

Ragtop: Yes, I meant the Moroso's when I said "they."

What kind of strange tone? It's really hard to describe... They do not have a deep throay sound at all. Part throttle driving kind of reminded me of a dump truck. I don't know if they'd really cut down on the droning sound much if any at all. Flowmaster doesn't make any sort of "bullet" muffler, they're all chambered designs.

Thanks GeorgeC and spiesscj,
That's exactly what I was looking for. I think I will pass on the Morosos. Now I am trying to narrow things down to a couple of other ideas:
Xr1 Borla muffler: But my ground clearance is an issue, my car is lowered and I am scrapping the edge of the resonator now on speed bumps, 5 inch diameter might get ripped off. Also, this is a pricey gamble, I have seen the video of the Camaro with this done (posted on all of the boards) and I like how it sounds, but sometimes these things can be decieving .
Dynomax: (Thanks Jason )The ground clearance is better and the price is right, but I am concerned that it might not help with the drone as much.
Custom Chambered I-pipe: (GMMG Style) The ground clearance is perfect with this idea since it is roughly the same size as the rest of the piping. Also, it is custom order I could have it made as much as 23 inches long and just mate it up with the opening of the y-pipe. Cost is about $70, but it will take about a month to have fabricated. I just have no personal experience with this type of "chambered exhaust." The person who turned me on to this idea (from the LS1.com forum) had a smaller one made to replace his resonator and says that it eliminated all of his drone and make it deeper in tone. But I am worried about it not flowing as well as the other designs (loss of HP) and actually not working on my car, that seems to be more prone to drone than others.

I think I will post another topic with these new ideas, but does anyone here have some opinions on them?

i would NOT use the chambered pipe for the I-pipe. You would lose to much. I have the GMMG it made the same hp as my old B&B. However the GMMG has the chambered parts in the back of the catback(like a regular catback) however the chambered pipes are 3.5" vs the 2.5" piping after the 3" spilt over the axle.

Just something to keep in mind if you are going to use a chambered pipe. BTW it's almost as loud as my old LOUDmouth was but no where as near the drone and much better more refined sound

I second the dump truck sound. Mine was very loud in the car with the muffler in the stock location. I also didn't pick any power over my single in/out dynomax oval welded ultra flow.
