Default How many have had a Comp cam go bad??

Mine seems to be ticking more than normal. I'm getting longer pushrods because i found out mine are too short. Gunna give that a shot first. Does Comp have the same problem that Futral has had in the past with the cams?

I had one comp cam go bad on me. It lasted a long time but a lifter went out and killed the cam.

Purdueranger. That's not a cam failing, that's another part causing damage to the cam.

Buddy of mine had one go. Had a chunk of lobe come off. Very dead LS1 after that This was a few years ago though.

I'm running a Comp in my goat. Hopefully no problems will ever come of it.

7 different comp cams over the last 10 years on different cars. Never a failure or problem related to the cam.

Futral does not use comp cams, they are using cammotion IIRC. Now, whether the cores are the same...?

Comp did go public with break-in related problems on flat tappet cams. That was primarily due to lower zinc content and higher spring pressures (improper break-in) and is not an issue with Hydraulic Roller cams.

edit - I have heard of the lifter retainer failing and allowing the lifter to rotate and turn the side of the roller into the lobe. That would chew a lobe up fast.

Couldn't tell you. Most of one lobe came apart. Pictures were taken but I can't seem to find them. Probably deleted over the years...
