Default simple head gasket question.

Now I had Patrick G calculate my came based on specs I have him on a .040" head gasket. When buying it do I perchase a .040 gasket or does it have to be larger to compinsate for being torqued down on? I thought I read that in a post.

Cosmetic gasket are the way to go?

Gaskets are advertised at their compressed thickness. Cometics are about the only way to get a .040 gasket, that I know of. Use copper spray when installing to help the sealing.

Gasket thickness is usually specified as "compressed thickness"
