Default stock rod with good bolts?
I am comtemplating doing rods in my turbo motor. has anyone ever broken a stock rod with good bolts?

Yes. Look into the scat or eagle rods. Can get them for less than double the price of good rod bolts.... ..... well, the Katechs anyway.
