Can LG MotorSports G5 Cam pass emissions?

Anyone know?

I emailed LG and the response was they didn't know but thought it might.

I can't buy a cam that can't pass, so I need to know for sure.

We're allowed 220 ppm in hydrocarbons on the sniffer test. Car will have Hooker long tubes and cats.

well, if we knew the specs, we could tell you. I've heard the cam in a 346ci car, and as hard as it loped I'd have a hard time believing it would pass emissions, especially at the lower rpm idle test we have.

I can't find out much about the specs other than 112 LSA and probably 226+ intake duration/exhaust duration.

Our sniffer test in North Carolina is at near idle so the HC at low rpm would be the issue indeed.

Can programing clean up the HC at low rpm on a big duration cam by leaning it out? Will a lean base setting on a MAFT clean up the HC for a low rpm idle test? I'm thinking if say 224 duration is the "normal" limit then maybe with tweaking the slightly bigger cam could squeeze by.

I will be getting one soon, and from what I hear from people, it WONT pass emissions.....just because the #'s on it are so radical

that cam on a 112 lobe sep will not pass, i know cause my T1 spec cam (112 L/S) did not pass (HC failed low speed w/ 512ppm w/ a limit of 220ppm). get that cam on a 114, then you may have a chance.
i was wondering what effect durration has on emmisions? tighter=cleaner?
i know lift will not effect it.

Yes Glen, less duration is cleaner, and less overlap is cleaner also.

the B1 has passed. the G5 wont....not in a 112/cam only app anyway. and yes, i know the specs. JWS in Houston was supposed to test his vette soon or just did recently. may want to inquire on the corvetteforum.

Just an FYI, there is a post on here in recent days about the T1 passing as well. It is a 112LSA, but it has much less duration than the G5 cam.

Any of the G5 cam family pass the sniffer or other emissions testing? Care to share?

224/230 .5xx/.5xx 112 = G5

This cam will not pass the sniffer test. Luckily they eliminated that in GA now

Would something like a 224 XE-R/230 XE on a 114 or 115 be able to pass?

I thought Chris Pippy got a 230/230 cam to pass by putting a temporary tune in it geared toward emissions. Jacked up the idle and did a few other tweaks with timing.

224/224 on a 114 can pass in most states. A high idle makes it pretty clean.
