Default Very Bad Ticking

allright after i installed my ms4 cam and double springs i noticed a bad ticking sound. though it was just piston slap, but im pretty sure its not. i can hear it all the time and it gets really loud at higher rpms. i checked the rocker arms and everything is ok. i dont know what it could be, maybe a lifter? any help is appreciated.

Did you install longer pushrods when you did the cam?

You probably need longer pushrods. get a pushrod checker and use it to measure the distance you need.

There's your problem. Typically, the larger the cam, the smaller the base circle. The MS4 is pretty big so I imagine you lost much of your lifter preload. As mentioned by others, you need to measure for your lifter preload using a checking push rod. You should shoot for a .075" preload which will put you close to the center of travel on an OEM lifter. If you have to choose between going higher or lower, go higher but I'd max at about .100". My guess is that you need a minimum of a 7.425" push rod but optimally would be better with a 7.450" pushrod.

I have ticking noise as well but it just started about a week ago and I've had my cam for about a year now but it has only been running now for about 7 months.
