Default Valve stem seal height

I am trying to reassemble the heads on my LS1 and have a dumb question. According to my Haynes manual the valve stem seal height is measured from the valve seat to the top of the seal. My question is do I measure from the top of the seat or the bottom? The attatched picture shows what I am talking about. I think I know the answer, but I would rather make sure first.

Thanks,
Brian

That would be from "B". And the distance should be 0.712" - 0.752", at least according to my 02 manual. You can also tell when the seal bottoms, the sound will change slightly as you tap it on.

That's what I thought. I just couldn't tell from the picture in the manual. 0.712"-0.752" is what is listed in my book as well.

Thanks
