Default Biggest cam that will still pass emissions..

Just as the title says, what is the biggest cam I could put in my 99 SS and still pass emissions. My car is full bolt-ons and still have the cats.

Any suggestions on which cam? Thanks.

Depends what kind of test you take and your tune but around a 224/224 is around largest I hear of passing in my area.

I highly doubt a 112 with a 224/224 cam will pass a sniffer test. Why do you need lope anyway?

I'm in Windsor, Canada (across from Detroit) and they do the sniffer test here (put the car on the rollers and run it for about 2 or 3 minutes. Not sure about the parameters but I'm sure it is not as stringent as California.

I "need" lope because I have always liked the sound of a car with some lope. If I went 114 with a 224/224 do you think that would pass? We also have 94 octane at the gas stations here so I think that helps on the testing as well (burns alittle cleaner).

I think a 114 will pass if your car is tuned properly and in good running order. If in doubt, you can go to a 220/224 on a 114. I also think you should give up on the lope inless you want to change the cam every year just for the "sniffer."

Thanks for the reply. My car only has 15k miles on it and it is in perfect running order. It is a "garage queen".
