Default Who specs out the best Custom Camshafts?

I'm currently running a Comp Cams custom grind in my 408, but since I've got the motor torn apart I'm thinking about going with something else. The current cam seems to work just fine, but I've been thinking that I should try something else that is better suited for my setup. The current cam is on a 113ls.. I'm running the carb style intake and throttle body setup so I was thinking that I should try a cam with a 110ls. But, I'm also running nitrous so I'm not sure how this would work.

Who makes the best custom grinds out there in your opinions? Who did you go with and what kind of results have you gotten? Good or bad I wanna know. There are so many different shops to choose from that I can't make up my mind. Ed Curtis is at the top of my list as well as HPE, Thunder, Futral, etc.

I just want a cam that is 100% specific to my setup so that I know there is nothing left on the table.

Thanks,
Matt

Patrick G seems to be the cam design man around here. Have him do it for you and then you get a discount off the cam too. Shoot him a PM.

Most designers still have Comp grind the cam though so either way you get a cam from Comp.

EDC, Futral or Thunder will all work.

If you want something a little different but kickass, give LSM a call.

I like cam Motion, but as stated above Patrick G is the man to talk to hands down.

That's who I talked with.

And yes, it is a comp grind. Ordered through Thunder Racing.

I know that most cams are gonna be ground by Comp or Cam Motion.. Yes my current cam is a Comp grind, but it was spec'd out by Comp themselves.

I think that there is alot left on the table right now with my current setup. The carb style intakes and big 1500 cfm throttle bodies have not been around all that long and I want someone to design a camshaft to work at its full potential with this setup. I have been told that the cam needs to be designed very similar to a carburated engines cam. So, I want someone that is tried and true and knows a little bit about these setups in particular.

I have talked with Patrick G and I am considering getting a cam from him.. Just trying to cover all the bases here.

crane 246/254 .635/.635 on a 114 if you gonna spray it. tighten the lsa up, if not going to spray it. i would probably only grind 2-4* of advance in it, depending on what lsa you choose. just my opinion.

I'm running a Comp XE-R 246/254 .613/.613 on a 113+1 now I think.. But, with this intake/tb setup I think you can play with the lsa a little differently than with the stock style ls1 intakes. A while back before he started charging for specs Patrick G told me that my DCR was way off with this current cam and that I needed to go with a 110lsa..

One reason I go with Futral is because Allan creates all his lobes. They are not anyone else design and Cam Motion does the grinding. To many people try to use Comps predesigned lobes.

I really was hoping that some of these guys would chime in about this.. It would be nice if someone that knew their **** could tell me if I'm leaving something on the table and need a cam specifically designed for this type of intake/tb setup and if my LSA is way off from what it should be. Ed Curtis, Patrick G, Futral, Thunder, HPE, etc give us some insight please..

I would love to see some info from some of the guys that have designed a few camshafts for the same type setup that I am running...
