Default What size push rods for my application

OK, some of you guys know I dyno'd 425 RWHP 400 RWHP yesterday through a 228R 114, AFR 205, MN6, 3.90s, bolt ons (see sig ), and I should walk away from the game and just be very happy. I am happy because I was shooting for 420 RWHP with the 3.43s, But we all have issues about the game we play. I have an attraction to the torquer V2 232/234 112 because just by chance, I happen to have one sitting in my garage . I know the gains are only worth about 15 RWHP and a little more chop at idle, but my question is, what size push rods should I use. ( yes I know I should measure when the car is apart ) I do have some valve train noise now with 7.40.

My AFR 205 heads are milled -.020, and I will continue to use the stock GM .054 gasket. What size push rod should I use ?

I might not ever change the cam ( if I was smart I wouldnt ), but you know how winter is with the car just sitting there and you get bored with ideas. I really need to move back to Florida !

Hey - welcome to the mod bug club!

I'm in the same situation as you. I should be happy with my setup right new, TR224 putting down over 430rwhp. BUT, since my car is sitting in the garage right now in winter storage, I just cant help diving into a cam swap this year!

I dont have an answer to the pushrod question, I'm going to have to measure my setup & order the right size pushrod once the cam gets installed also.

Comp Cams just dropped off my new cam last week. Once the cold temp breaks, i'll get it installed. Not to mention another dyno-tune. :-)

wow!! 430rwhp with TR224/112!!! Ive got that same cam and my car is at the shop getting TSP stage 2.5 5.3 l heads and ported 90/90 set up on.I was wonder ing what is your set up?Im an A4 though so I dont think I'll dyno that, but just curios what you got,and like you guys Im dabating over getting the Tourqer v2,but kinda curious what it will do with the 224/112 cam.I love the powerband /driveability and lowend pull of this cam though, but want to see what it puts down before i decide to pull it or not

Yup - I'm very happy with over 430rwhp. Since that Dyno, I've added an EWP & UD pulley, so Its more like 440 now.

But anyway, most my info is on my cars website, listed in my sig.

I'm really excited to see what kind of number my new cam is going to put down this year!

7.400 look fine to me, you should be acheiving more preload with 7.400's, which these motors like.

15rwhp from changing to a cam that's 4 and 6 degrees bigger on the intake and exhaust and a 2 degree tighter LSA? No way...

Don't bother, IMO.

It's all good. I sit in front of my computer far too much...

To add some tech to my posts...

My setup is now TSP LS6 heads milled .040 and a Cometic .040 gasket. I have a Torquer v2 112 and my engine builder said 7.35s were optimum for my setup.
