Default LS2 402 with 59cc heads?

Hey guys...more thoughts and I need some opinions as I do not know how to calculate DCR/SCR with setups differing from the 346...

402 with 59cc ETP 215's at 59cc:

What head gasket thickness?
What piston setup?

TSP has these available:
-2cc
-10cc
-12cc
-15cc

This engine will be run N/A and will mostly see street use and some mild track events. I'm trying to find an aluminum combo to run in conjunction with my current topend. ETP's, ported Fast 90....

I'm thinking this setup with a Callies crank and rods and an ARP main stud kit..
Help me!

What cam? I'd run a .040" thick cometic for the best possible quench and select a piston to put your DCR where you want it. With the pistons .007 out of the hole and a XE-R 238/242 110+0 I get the following.

15cc = 11.2 SCR / 8.33 DCR
12cc = 11.6 SCR / 8.62 DCR
10cc = 11.8 SCR / 8.82 DCR
2cc = 13.1 SCR / 9.73 DCR

If you can get 93 in your area, 10cc's looks like the way to go. But if you have to run in hot summer traffic and/or only get 91, stay with 12cc's. You'll need a lot more cam or racegas to run the 2cc ones.

I do have 93 octane year round down here in south Florida and we are close to sea level.....

The cam(s) I'm thinking of are the T-Rex, or the G5X4....

How does everyone feel about my heads situation? Too small, and should I consider have the chambers opened up to more accomodate the larger bore size?

hammertime: thanks for working that out for me...I think the -10's sound good.....

I assume 'mostly street use' is not a daily driver, so 402 ci should be ok with a TRex.

That 11.8 SCR gives a 8.65 DCR with 242/248 110+0, right where you want to be. Hot, humid weather can increase your octane reqirement enough that 8.82 was pushing it.

My current heads are ETP215 setup for the 346.

What are your thoughts on opening up the chambers on the heads to better accept the 4.0 bore? Should I worry about it or just go with it the way it is?

I have been thinking L92/L76, but it just sucks going form top of the line heads to a factory GM part that requires "massaging" to match that of my current heads...

L92's on this 402 setup with stock 69.8cc chambers/.040 Cometic, -2cc pistons and a G5X4 will net me:

11.45 SCR
8.59 DCR

I "may"go this route if I can find some parties that are interested in my ETP setup....
