Default 111 Lsa?

I've been looking for cams and found on that is a 228/228 .588/.588 111LSA and its a custom Comp Grind...

is 111LSA too much? Will it be REALLY choppy/lopey?

The amount of chop is directly related to the amount of overlap. Let me give you an example. The cam you're talking about: 228/228 111LSA has 6 degrees of overlap at .050".

An MS3 cam is 237/242 114LSA and it has close to 12 degrees of overlap. Guess what? The 237/242 114 LSA has a much harder lope than the 228/228 111LSA cam. Overlap is what gives you the lope.

For what it's worth a 220/220 108LSA cam would be the smoothest idling cam of the 3. How could that be, it has a 108LSA? Because if only has 4 degrees of overlap.

J rod posted a valve events calculator(it's a sticky in the Adv. Tech section). It'll give you the overlap. Just plug in the duration, LSA, and ICL.

intake duration+exhaust duration
divide by 4
subtract LSA
multiply by 2

the higher the valve overlap the choppier the idle

So a 228/228 with a LSA of 112 would be at 4 degrees of overlape and the 111 LSA would be at 6 degrees of overlape. Would there be a diffrence in hp and tq or just the idle?

The power band will be brought down with a lower LSA.
