Question What RPM are stock rod bolts good to? 2001+

I know the pre '01 LSX motors were prone to rod bolt failures when spun over 6200 a bunch... and that in '01 and up they were upraded.

So... what's the max safe RPM to spin a stock bottom end for an '01?

Reason I ask is that when getting dynotuned yesterday there mere making allusions that the stock rod bolts were still inferior, even post '01. My valvetrain is good to 7500 and my timing chain is too... I set the rev limiter at 7000.

I was only planning on keeping the stock 6600 rev limiter, but that extra 400 rpms is addicting.

I hear stock rod bolts are only good to 6600ish rpms... so I'd be pretty weary revving any higher than that. Just buy some Katech's and have that peace of mind...

^ Why would GM put in a rod bolt that can only take up to the factory rev limiter? Again... I'm talking about stock 2001+ LSX motors 2000 and before had weaker rod bolts.

Here's a long thread about this very topic. Personally my limiter is set to 7100. I was trying different rpms for my shift-lite after the new setup. I'm gonna drop it back to 7k sometime soon, shift-lite comes on at 6700 and I never hit it anyhow so its not really an issue.

I'm just saying what I heard... pre '01 rod bolts are good to ~6300, post '01 rod bolts are good to ~6600.

^ Why the hell would my car have a factory 6600 rev limiter if the post '01 bolts are only good to 6600... that'd never happen.

I know quite a few members here going above 6800rpms on a routine basis. As for my setup I shift for max power around 6500rpms with rev limit of 6800.

More graphic carnage for your viewing pleasure...wanna guess how much it cost to find out how many RPMs your stock rod bolts can take...

Note: You can now see clear though the motor... ..if you have 50 foot of chain you have a good boat anchor.. ..I am having so much fun now that I figured out how to post up photos...

Your pictures will be appearing here soon ... .. I suggest some ARP or Katech rod bolts it is very inexpensive insurance compared to the alternative if your going to spin it that high .. ..from your sig you have purchsed some very nice parts some good rod bolts to compliment what you already have would be money well spent..

T-56 rebuilds spun their stock(02) shortblock to the other side of 7500 for the longest.
