Default noobie LS1 er here- wanting to know some LSx info

Ok- im thinking about buying a 99 LS1 m6 with 72k on the clock..

I cant have it be slow for long and so i was wondering what would be a good cam to go with, and what all do i need to change

As you can see in my sig i currently have a 94 lt1 m6 pushin 350rwhp - with a bad clutch at that time-. so this LS1 car has to produce atleast that or more

I have a buddy with some 5.3L heads i could get for a decent price, and maybe a " big ugly" inake manifold off of a 6.0 from a truck im told..

And i want a cam that makes good power down low to about 6000rpms.
but can still maintain "decent" drivablity.

I am planning on replacing the lifters ( duh) - maybe the pushrods too?
What else should i replace ( springs, rocker arms, retainers........ etc) ?

I dont have a whole lot of $ to work with, i just dont want it to be stock and slow..

Thanks

i'd just get an ls6 intake manifold. as for cams just get a cam package which has cam, springs, retainers and pushrods. of course you will need headers, ory or catted y and maybe a catback also.and an air lid too.

well like i said- Id like to make close to 380# ft of tq, and as close to 400hp as i could.

But - looking for decent drivability

the cam in my LT1 is a Comp cams XE custom grind 230/236 @ .050, .555/.580 lift + 1.6rr's cam has 112LSA and car idles at 1000rpms

I would like to make power from 1700-redline like my LT1 does..

ok- so big ugly wont fit- thats kinda what i thought..

so - LS6 intake, Pacesetter headers w/ ORY, SLP Lid,... whats a good cam package then?

Patrick G cam, 224/228, .641/.646", 110* LSA
Stage 2-2.5 ported 5.3 heads
LS6 intake
Patriot Gold springs (they have a new cool spring out now that might be better)
I needed 7.350" pushrods
Stock lifters (go buy the LS7 ones for $100)
Pacesetter LTs

421rwhp/400rwtq, 350rwtq@3000rpms Peak HP was 6200 I think.

Yeah, its a fun ride. Went 12.3@118 with a 2.0 60' and spinning at the top of first (bald Nittos). Going with a few more goodies this year (have a FAST 90 on it now, and an NX wet kit). Have some ET Streets and a 3.73 12-bolt this year, as well as a much stiffer (read heavier) chassis with 6pt rollbar and 3pt SFCs.

Forgot to mention I've got a UD pulley in the above dyno results.

yeah- i think that my 94 would do better than a 12.9@ 112 if i could get it to hook up. but 1st and 2nd are worthless. as well as a bit of 3rd, and she still gets jumpy shifting into 4th..

But I've found a midnight blue 99LS1 T-top m6.. the only thing bad is the T-top part, but oh well.... but i cant make up my mind if i want that car or a 4x4 truck, or if i want to build a lexus GS300 with a supra engine...

Yeah, I don't know if I would rather have my T-tops or a hardtop. I like the T-tops but they are so small compared to my old third gen, they almost feel pointless. I'd be more for running a full cage in my car if it was a hardtop too because you don't have to worry about accessing the T-top levers with the top of the halo in the way. On the flip side, I can't wait to see what my car looks like with the 6pt installed and the T-tops out

I've also got a '00 Jimmy 2-door/4x4 Stock so far though, all car money is being put into the Z. And I'm about to start tearing into a 3.4L out of a '95 RS to boost and throw into a '76 VW

cool deal- my 94 is a hard top, but it still flexes, even with SFC's, you can see the fender, the tranny tunnel, and the door skin markings of torque..

I also had to repair a 2" crack in my tranny Xmember..- that wasnt there before the nitrous.. lol

I am really into this LS1 car, but then again - i've got my eyes on a Lexus GS300 im thinking of puting a supra turbo on and calling it good at a luxury car w/ 450hp and 30mpg
