If you are looking for the cheapest route sleeves are definitely not the right alternative. You are right to say you can't bore an LS1 much because the max for your 01 is 3.910. Just buy a forged 402 or 408 shortblock from one of our sponsors and call it a day. You will spend more on getting sleeves installed as well as the crank and pistons to go along with it than you would the 408. Another option is a 418 L92 setup.

You can also get a 383 rotating assembly for just over 2K and use your stock block.
