Default I was thinking trickfows?

Hey guys sry my last post got messed up. i was just wondeirng waht heads would be good. I was thinking trickflows they seem to have a nasty reputation for making good power. my supporting mods are slp long tubes and ory, loud mouth 1 exhaust. i am going to go with thunder racings Trex cam and fast 90 with 90mm throttle body. and slp induction package. i plan on buying a forged 402 stroker engine and running a 150 shot of nitrous but thats not for a while. lol Then next setup is tiwins but i have to pay off the car first. but those are my plans for now thanks guys.

Well, all the shops putting them on are making great power. But I find it remarkably odd that there's very little feedback from guys buying them and putting them on a setup themselves. Kinda risky if you ask me.

I have AFR's, they are proven time and time again to be one of the best, if not the best performing head out there. Plus their customer service is excellent. Ask an anyone about Tony Mamo there and they will tell you, the guy is great to work with.

Trickflow have been putting up some awsome numbers but I still don't know anyone running them first hand. Like N4cer, I feel it is a bit of a coin toss.

You can't go wrong with either of them. Trickflows or AFRs. I bought the AFRs based on the long proven history of performance. But I feel that the trickflows are a nice peice as well.

For a big CI set up, a T-rex would not be my cam of choice.

Anyone have any track times yet with the TFS heads? AFR's are proven at the track the TFS are proven on the dyno so far but what about the track?

I had some heads there were good on the dyno but not that good at the track so I'm curious to see how it (TFS dyno numbers) translates.

I was having this debate in my head for a while as well. I basically concluded if I was going to build a max effort (high dollar serious effort by some standards) 346/347, I would go with the Trickflows and ported FAST 90. But since even those are most likely outshined by the newer L92/L76 combos or better yet the LS7's with the LS7 intake on the larger cube motors I decided instead to go budget with the head and cam on my 347, and continue to plan for a larger more potent combo down the road. Afterall, all of the necessary swap stuff with the T/F's and fast would put you into the 5K plus range. That would go along a way towards a large cube motor. I just decided to go with a set of budget heads, hopefully a well thought out camshaft, and retain my LS6 intake and ported T/B for just over 2K and that included ARP head studs, rod bolts and Fluidamper.

Went the same route basicaly but I spent a little more money on heads as I was able to sell my old prc heads and bring the price of the new heads down a little. I went with the Terms but I'm real curious about the TFS heads.

Do a search on my username....I've done 2 long write ups on my TFS heads, the install and the dyno results.

Youd pick up 20 hp just by changing headers...SLP headers arent known for making power.

I've also got the TFS heads, and highly recommend them. However, you state your goals are a big inch motor, and in this case, why waste your $$ on heads that won't work with a larger bore?

Good to know, but I'm not interested in dyno numbers. What kind of track times are you getting?

I have to agree. If you are going to do a large bore engine I would hold out. Then you can get a set of All Pros worked up.
