Default Major Differences between the LS1 (with LS6 intake) and the LS6

Trying to compile a list basically... what nets the LS6 395/405hp vs. the LS1 at 320-350hp (depending)? What are the differences in heads, cams, block, etc?

haven't researched it a whole lot, but I've always been curious

The 01 and 02 LS1s had the 241 head casting where as the LS6 had a 243 casting and the LS6 has a different cam and block. But the block will not make any kind of a difference in power. Maybe in someones imagination it will but not in real life. And also the LS1 heads have solid valve stems and the LS6 heads have hollow valve stems, i believe the intake valves are charged with nitrogen and the exhaust valves have a sodium mixture in them for cooling purposes

The LS6 had the better H/C setup for the extra power.

what do the heads/cams run as a combo cost wise?
basically I could just toss a ported set of ls6 heads on with an ls6 cam and with a full exhaust be in the general 380-400ish RWHP on the dyno?

cheap way to get 400hp i guess...
if that's really all there is to it (updated water and oil pumps too I'm assuming), that's not bad deal if thats all anyone is looking for for a cheaper start

if youre putting out cas on heads and cam, the last thing i would do is get the ls6 setup. sure, its a good setup, but for around the same money you could get aftermarket and make more power. well, i take that back sort of. the ls6 heads flow pretty well, but hell, i would get a more agressive cam.
