Default Any 5.3 or 6.0 combos worth mentioning

Im sure this isnt the best place to ask but I didnt see a gen III section specific to this engine.

Rest assured, Ive asked this same question across the net.

Lets say I wanted to take a 5.3 convert it to carb, anyone else done a similar build up, maybe have some dyno figues to go along with it?

What about any 6.0's converted to carb, any hard numbers, details?

My brother wants to put either in his 65 nova, price is definitely right on the 5.3's, as compared to the 5.7/6.0's. Im sure if the price is right, he'd use an LS1 5.7 but realistically, the 5.3 is plentiful in this area, with some scattered 6.0's.

Any input appreciated, thanks

take a look at this months car craft, they pulled an iron 6.0 out of the junk yard, put on a carb and a hot cam and made a ton of power.

Yep. They left the stock heads on too i believe. Supposed to be around 500hp at the flywheel. I cant remember exactly.

Yep, I saw that.

I was hoping to get some people with similar results on the web, kinda back it up.

If you do a search in enginemasters.com, they did the same thing to an LS1 engine, they claim to have squeezed 500hp at the crank adding nothing more than the GMPP hot cam and spring kit (along with the GMPP intake, 750 demon and msd box, of course).

Im just looking for real world examples, well, internet strangers that claim to have done X examples, to back it up.

Thanks fellas.

No kidding, my bro is wanting one in a 65 nova, similar weight....

i got a stock 5.3 in my '87 Trans am GTA with a 700r4 transmission and 3.27 gears it went 13.43 @ 101 mph on street tires. not too bad i think.

now it has edelbrock shorty headers slp loudmouth with a custom 2.5" Y-pipe, and a march underdrive pulley. no times yet.

soon to come ls6 cam and springs, and a tune.
