Default How do YOU go about keeping lifters up?

I know the 3 methods. I havnt done a cam before, but the guys I know who have use the "roulete" method. I would rather keep the lifters up with the wooden dowles, but I cant find the dern dimensions of the rod anywhere! I think it was 23in of 5/16? Do any of yall know if that is correct? Have you done it with the wooden dowles, or is that risky(breaking). Who prefers the magnet technicque?
Any advise or personal experiance would be AWSOME!
thanx.

You can use 1/4 or 5/16. I used aluminum rod from Lowes. I just cut the length so they would stick out of the block about 5". No problems.

yeah they get stuck on there real tight, hit it a few times with something non-metallic and it should come loose.

What he said , make sure you loosen all the bolts a good amount, it wont fall off, the k-member is in the way or you could just take the pan off and do it right. Its stuck on there but be careful to not pry on the gasket if you try and pry it down. I banged it a few times with a peice of wood, I didnt have a rubber mallet, and pulled it down.

Make sure you get those long *** skiny bolts in the back of the pan
