i was just wondering how you can use valve events to see if a cam will clear the piston. i know about using the clay method but i don't wanna buy the cam and heads put them on the car just to find out that they requier flycutting.

Very difficult to do because you would have to first know the lift of both lobes during the overlap period and which part of the overlap period TDC is at. Its pretty much not gonna happen. You have to actually measure it which means you have to assemble the engine first.

well damn that sucks. is there a rule of thumb or anything that i can use to see how like changing the LSA of a given cam would change valve events or anything and possibly cause clearance issues?
