Default ms4 lope....

i know this thread is probably going cause alot of ppl to disagree with me, but oh well. heres my opinion.

i heard an ms4 tonight for the first time in person. im not sure about the heads, but the the exhaust was dumped w/ no cats.

the car made great numbers with the setup, but i just didn't like the sound. it popped instead of consistantly loped.. is this because it was dumped?

what kinda numbers? the exhaust system has a lot to do with the popping sound. so does the tune though...

also it was idling at 700-800 rpms.. in auto where the idle is about 1000, it might not have popped as much..?

Autos idle lower, m6s idle higher. Generally speaking that is.

The 2 MS4's that I have heard honeslty didn't sound "good" either IMO.

the idle is all up to the tune. Most people with big cams like the MS4 are after everylast number so they in general run open cutouts and straight threw systems that IMO dont have a smooth clean sound.Maybe that has somthing to do with you guys not licking the sound who knows

auto idle higher?

my auto idled at 1000 with an mti tune and y1 cam...
my m6 (stock for now) idles at about 800 to 900. i will look at it more closely tomarrow..

in my auto i ran flp headers, no cats, and wide open borla, and the car loped hard. it didn't have that pop sound to it..

I have my idle set at 1050rpm with the MS4 and I'm very happy with the sound. At 850rpms the lope is wicked but it is a pain because there drivability issues. I have ORY and Borlamouth behind it. there is no poping. It only pops a bit at WOT going through the gear, but the car also is running a bit rich until I can get it to the Dyno to finish the tune.

I have the MS4 LT ORY and a cutout. Everybody I've talked to about my car loves the way it sounds at idle and WOT. I get compliments on it all the time. Mine is idled at 900-950 can't remember exactly.

ME no likey the idle either but not for those reason....my buddies SS with the LM2 just doesnt say MS4 to me....Im guessing its the exhaust tho. Dont get me wrong it chops but nothing special, its no where near what expected out of it being so damn big.

i dont have a video of my car ideling, but this is a burn out video. the car had the mti Y1 with 5.3l heads.. this my opinion but i perferred the sound on of the y1 to any other cam i have ever heard. i realize this probably because it was my car..

come to think of it, i haven't seen any other car on this board that runs the y1..
