If the block is a new one yes you will need the 04 and up studs, they are shorter I believe. I would check on a few of the sponsors websites to see who has the best prices. The are in the $250 range. They are well worth it too. Check TSP and Thunder.

Any reason for using the studs instead of the stock bolts?

They last forever, only have to clean the bolt holes one time which reduces the chances of damaging the block threads or cracking the block. Reusable.

Clen the bolt holes out with air. They must be completely clean and dry when you install the studs.

Actually A1 Technology makes the strongest studs. Made from MP-35 alloy. 290psi tensile strength...also set you back 1000.00 dollars.....

Hmm 750 more dollars for an extra 90 PSi tensile strength. Ill stick with the cheaper ARP's unless I am pushing over 40 PSI or over a 550 shot of juice.

290 is a very stong piece.

I know that, im just saying that most people that ive seen go the stud route never really justify their purchase. The stockers have seen a lot of juice in testing, I honestly wouldnt have a problem using them in a big CI/juiced set up.

Studs make it much easier to place the head and gasket on and get a perfect alignment too. Plus not having to clean the bolt holes everytime you pull the heads is enough justification for studs. Cleaning bolt holes is PITA.
