Default 238/240 605/609 112LSA...opinions??

I have the opportunity to buy this cam brand new for a hell of a deal. It's very similar to the MS3. I'm still a cam noobie, but I have been reading a lot and trying to learn. I need experts to help me with this choice. Mods are full exhaust, SS4000 and will eventually get a LS6 intake and probably 3.73's. The gears will be awhile though. Heads will follow in the distant future.

Patrick G recommended a custom 230/230 592/592 110+4 a while back. But this is quite a deal and if it will work well, I'll go with this. Also want to make sure no flycutting is involved. Looking for input on driveabilty and where it will make good power. As with everyone else, I want the most midrange I can get and a really sick lope is always a plus. What do you all think?

From what I have read Patrick G knows his ****, I would trust in his recommondation, making great power without hammering the valve train is always a good deal.

I take Patrick G's recommendations very seriously, but for the deal I have on this cam, if it will work with my setup, I'll go this route. Just looking for info on what kind of power I can expect and if anyone else has feedback on this particular sized cam.

Hey, where'd the sound clip go for this cam. A link was posted here but now it's gone. Anyone else have a clip?

Ok here ya go. Thats big friggin cam for a daily driver. You'll need gears or your gonna be a dog off the line. You might not like it. Then again you might. Its an upper rpm cam.

^ +1 That cam is to big for your set up. Especially for a daily. I was about to get the MS4 and realized that bigger cams leave power on the table if you are not in the high rpm range. Plus since you don't have heads, you will definately not reap the full rewards of what a bigger cam has to offer. Just my .02

I agree with the last 2 posters. I think that would be to big a cam for a daily driver. In addition I think it would leave you lusting for power just about everywhere. From my understanding, with that size camshaft you would not be able to do anything to get your compression back up without having to flycut. Since the large duration numbers will drop your DCR way down it will most likely be lacking just about everywhere. Even up top, unless you absolutely maximize all of the other bolt ons to capitalize on the extra HP north of 6000 rpms, you will most likely be disappointed. That is my .02 cents, but then again I still have a stock cam in mine (for now).

I have lived and learned about running a monster cam like that. The money that you save on the cam will have to be poured into a set of 3.73's at a minimum.

That cam would be excellent with higher compression, better heads, and more gear. For a stock-headed LS1 with stock LS1 intake, this is not the cam to run if you're looking for robust mid-range torque. That one is a very top-end biased cam. I'm talking a 6800-7000 rpm shift point. Not exactly what you'll want unless you're ready to step up the internals of the trans, add more gear, and do a lot of serious tuning.

The 230/230 110LSA +4 is a no-brainer for your cam-only setup.

That's what I needed to hear. I appreciate all the info guys. PatrickG, I will be contacting you when I am ready to buy. I have other questions for you, but I will pay the fee and use your vendors. Looks like I'll be passing this one up. It's for sale in the Sale section if anyone else wants it. Awesome price for brand new cam!

here is a idle clip of my car with a 238/242 .605/.610 110LSA. This is with stock 853 heads (LS6 ones are sitting in the garage) and TD's with 1 chamber flows under the axle.
