Default need list to complete 6.0 for my f-body

I'm going to need a "parts" list of everything I'm going to need so I can have my mechanic build me this engine.

And what do you guys think about this...

I'll buy the bare iron block 6.0
And buy on ebay, or the classifieds sections, for most of my parts... such as heads, crank, pistons & rings, camshaft, lifters, rods, etc.

I think I can get out way cheaper by doing this.
What would I want to use off my H/C LS1 engine?? or sell it as a longblock and put that money toward this?

maybe this may not be as cheap as I thought. looking at about $800 for a new, good name 4" stroke pistons & rings, $500 or $600 for connecting rods, $900 for a new, good name crank, $200 for new ARP head studs, $500 or so for a ported oil pan, etc.

so building the 6.0 shortblock part by part most sponsors would cost about $3500 new when I could get one fully mounted & balanced for nearly $1000 more. what could I save by buying the shortblock parts used or via classifieds?

Couple hundred $$ max, I'd think. Just go with a sponsor, unless you're a REAL cheapsass like me.

Ported oil pan, mounted and balanced... okay... you aren't making any sense...

Anyways, not really sure of your goal here, but if you look in the For Sale section there are people selling stock 6.0L shortblocks & longblocks on a fairly frequent basis. I saw a guy on there that had several 6.0 complete truck engines for under $2500.

well I didn't mean a ported oil pan mounted & balanced. I was just talking about all the parts I'm going to put together to complete my new setup. As for the mounted & balanced thing, I was talking about the shortblock.

I have been shooting this idea around as well, and what I have come up with is that you "may" save some money but you will know what exactly goes into the engine. I have heard and seen may people get engines with the wrong stuff. If you know a sponsor then I would just go with them as long as you feel confortable.
