Default Dreaded Piston Scratches! *PIC*

I am looking on buying a used motor and was told it is possible a valve broke loose and danced on the piston a bit perhaps.

http://www.tannercreative.com/piston.jpg is the file - i'd put the image here but it is too big. It is a -11cc lunati piston.

i would polish that out and make it smooth, it should be fine... I would worry more about your cylinder sleave...

how deep are the scratches?

It is a bit of a risk, because you cannot see if there is any damage below the line. IMO look somewhere else.

First off, predator makes a good point. Second, ibanez7 suggests sanding and polishing out the scratches, but that potentially lower compression on only one cylinder. Third, theres a good chance the cylinder wall is scratched up too.
